Tom Foster is one of the rising stars in the British comicbook scene.
Intensely dedicated to his craft, with an incredible attention to detail that makes his art look like it is three-dimensional, Tom’s name is becoming a very familiar one to comic readers and con attendees.
In the past, Tom has been employed as a graphic designer and freelance illustrator, and also illustrated the Disconnected comic from Disconnected Press, his first sequential work.
2000AD has a quite incredible record for giving talented creators their first big break and Tom is clearly destined to join that illustrious roll call. Three years running, Tom entered the 2000AD Portfolio Competition at Thought Bubble, the Leeds Comic Art Festival. This competition required entrants to illustrate a script. In 2011 and 2012 he came second, before winning in 2013.
First prize was a paid commission from 2000AD. Tom’s work appeared in the 2000AD Megazine in a story called “Storm Warning” in early 2015.
Tom’s star is continuing to rise and his talent is gaining the recognition it deserves, so ECC is delighted to welcome him back.
Anyone attending in 2017, please take our advice: go and look at Tom’s portfolio and be prepared to be amazed!
